AUT Live

For the past years I've been attending Papakura High School, I had been involved in all AUT My Future programmes and they have been giving me the help I needed to understand my subjects better and what options I will need to take to reach my future goals.

A few weeks ago, our year twelve students were given the opportunity to attend a programme, "AUT Live" held in the city. I had decided to also take part in this programme knowing that with the help of  students recently studying/attending University, they could give me a few advices on how I could reach my goal. Saturday 25th August was the day the year 12 students and I had attended this programme. This day was very productive not only for myself but for the other students as well. AUT Live was about creating our paths in life, setting our goals and also having the confidence to socialize with other students and making new friends. For a shy/antisocial student like myself, I wasn't as excited as others to meet new people but I was able to change that and had forced myself out of my comfort zone to speak to other students, other than my friends from school and it turned out a lot better than I had expected. I had formed new friendships that day. Myself and other students were also given the opportunity to visit The University Of Auckland and explore what it was like there. Both Universities had helped me a lot in making my decision on what I wanted to become in the future and where I want to study.
This day helped a lot especially knowing that we are getting a lot of support from people we didn't know and wanted to see us succeed in life. I am thankful for all the staff there who had helped me that day and gave me ideas on my goals on succeeding and I am looking forward to other programmes coming up.

Term 3 week 1.

This whole year wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, with assessments flooding in week after week and trying to balance both my school work and family/church commitments. The first few days back in school for term 3, I have been reflecting back on my tasks given to me last term and finishing off what needed to be done. So far, the first few days of term 3 have been good for me as I have been more consistently focused on getting my work/studies together and preparing for other assessments/exams coming up. My main goal for this year is to pass NCEA lvl 2 with a merit or excellence endorsement and also gaining enough or more UE credits and by doing that, I will need to polish more on coming to school on time which has been an issue for me for the past days in school and attending all my classes as well. Within these days it had occurred to me that school will soon be over for me being year 12 and moving forward to becoming a year 13 student. I can assure that I have become more linked into my school assessments knowing that I only have a few more weeks to go. With week 1 of term 3 done and dusted I am able to prepare myself with the next few weeks left of school for this year.
